Pest strips PDF Print E-mail

These are cardboard or plastic strips covered with a sticky resin and an attractant, or they are plastic strips impregnated with an insecticide. The insecticide is usually a slow-release variety, most often dichlorvos.

Health effects
Dichlorvos strips can be very hazardous as they expose their surroundings continuously to a concentration necessary to kill the target insects.

Manual control of insects, such as screens and fly swats. Sticky fly-paper. Better storage and hygiene practices (see also Mothproofing). Sticky traps are very effective at controlling populations of cockroaches near breeding areas. The more cockroaches that are stuck to them, the more effective they become. The insects secrete a powerful aggregating pheromone, calling their mates to the supposed 'feast' (see also Cockroach treatments).
